Segovia
Segovia is a historic city northwest of Madrid in central Spain. It is easily reached from Madrid by train (ca. 30 min) or car (ca. 75 min) (see below).
Sightseeing
Aqueduct
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this Roman aqueduct was built c. A.D. 50 and is one of the most significant and best-preserved ancient monuments left on the Iberian Peninsula. Can't miss it. Literally - it is huge.

Alcázar
One of the most distinctive castle-palaces in Spain by virtue of its shape – like the bow of a ship. The Alcázar was originally built as a fortress but has served as a royal palace, a state prison, a Royal Artillery College and a military academy since then. It is currently used as a museum and a military archives building. It is said to be one of the inspirations for Walt Disney's Cinderella Castle.

Cathedral / Plaza Mayor
Gothic-style, Roman Catholic cathedral located in the main square of Segovia, Plaza Mayor. This is where Restaurante José María is located and is also a short walk from Eurostars Convento Capuchinos Hotel (see 'Map').

Getting there
By train
High speed AVE trains leave from Madrid Chamartín Station every half hour or so, with last trains running at about 21:30 - we recommend checking the Renfe website for timetables. The journey lasts about 30 min and costs ca. €12 return.
To get to Chamartín Station, you have two options:
-
the Cercanias Train (C1) from Madrid Airport Terminal 4 (ca. €2, ca. 10min, but note that transit from Terminals 1-3 to T4 will take at least 15 min);
-
a taxi from the airport to Chamartín (flat rate of €30, ca. 20 minutes).
By car
Segovia is located 100km northwest of Madrid airport, and the drive takes about 1h15.
